PepsiCo Thailand, Suntory PepsiCo Thailand, and GMM Show Team Up for “Waste Nothing” Campaign at the 14th Pepsi Presents Big Mountain Music Festival

November 30, 2024

PepsiCo Services Asia Co., Ltd. (PepsiCo Thailand), Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) Co., Ltd., in collaboration with GAYRAY from GMM Show under GMM Music Public Company Limited, are continuing their commitment to entire waste segregation and management for the second consecutive year. The campaign, now branded as “Waste Nothing”, will be implemented at Thailand's largest music festival, the 14th Pepsi Presents Big Mountain Music Festival at The Ocean Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, on December 7–8, 2024. Music festival goers will be encouraged to enjoy responsibly by segregating and disposing of their wastes in designated bins for further recycling or proper utilization. This effort aims to reduce landfill waste, reinforcing the festival's aspiration to be more eco-friendly.

Building on the success of the 2023 “Munz Mai Ting” campaign, which encouraged music fans to participate in waste segregation actively, this year’s “Waste Nothing” campaign emphasizes proper disposal, encouraging attendees to segregate waste as a part of entire waste management effort at the 14th Pepsi Presents Big Mountain Music Festival. Covering over 600 rai, the festival will feature 55 waste segregation and disposal stations, each equipped with designated bins for four types of waste: (1) PET plastic bottles – this bin is specially designed for PET bottle disposal; (2) aluminum can; (3) food waste; and (4) general waste. Over 200 staff members will be stationed at these stations to guide attendees through proper waste segregation from the start. Additionally, more than 100 local youths and volunteers will participate in collecting recyclable materials, such as PET bottles and aluminum cans, into Waste Nothing bags under the “Mobile Bins” concept. This initiative not only helps increase the recycling rate but also fosters environmental awareness among local youth.

GAYRAY under GMM Show encourages music festival goers to segregate waste, aiming to reduce post-event waste to help minimize the environmental impact on the local community. With over 60,000 attendees and stakeholders expected daily at the Pepsi Presents Big Mountain Music Festival this year, the event’s waste management efforts will help decrease landfill waste while promoting environmental consciousness among the youth. This effort aspires to set a new benchmark for eco-friendly music events in Thailand.

PepsiCo Thailand and Suntory PepsiCo Thailand reaffirm their commitment to sustainable packaging management through effective waste segregation and promotion of Bottle-to-Bottle Recycling. This initiative involves collecting and recycling used PET plastic bottles from the event into 100% recycled PET (rPET) bottles. This approach helps with the following: reduce landfill waste, minimize the need for new resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support a circular economy Last year’s success at the 13th Pepsi Presents Big Mountain Music Festival underscores the campaign’s impact, with total 5,035 kilograms of waste successfully segregated for recycling or proper utilization. This included 1,795 kilograms of used PET bottles, 1,075 kilograms of aluminum cans, 705 kilograms of food waste, and 1,460 kilograms of general waste.
